About VDA EDI Tools

VDA EDI Tools is a free toolkit for people who work with automotive EDI: suppliers' EDI coordinators, logistics IT, and developers integrating with German OEMs and Tier-1s.

What we build

• VDA 4987 (DESADV) validator - parse and check despatch advices against structure, required segments, code lists and date formats.
• VDA 4984 (DELFOR) validator - the same for delivery forecasts and call-off schedules.
• Guides and references - the blog documents the practical knowledge: message structure, common errors, onboarding checklists.

Our privacy-first principle

All parsers run 100% locally in your browser. EDI messages contain commercially sensitive data - volumes, prices, delivery plans - so they should never leave your machine for a quick structural check. There is no upload endpoint; you can verify this in your browser's network tab. Read more in Why we validate EDI locally.

Accuracy note

Validation rules are compiled from publicly available VDA recommendation summaries and OEM implementation guidelines. OEMs maintain their own interpretations - always confirm against the latest guideline from your trading partner before going live.
